Frequently Asked Questions

Over 94% of the manuscripts SciTechEdit edits are published in top-choice journals.

While the typical manuscript acceptance rate for science journals is only 30% to 40%, ongoing surveys of manuscripts edited by SciTechEdit indicate that our clients have a 94% success rate in publishing their manuscripts.

SciTechEdit partners with you to give your manuscript the best chance for success.

We edit your manuscript so it best communicates your findings, ideas, and interpretations clearly and concisely.

Respected journals report that as many as 85% of submitted papers are not accepted for publication, in part because the ideas and results are not clearly communicated.

Editors of respected international journals report that quality editing can more than double your chances of publishing your manuscript. The editors at SciTechEdit excel at helping you publish your findings.

Our editors are highly qualified and experienced.

We edit over 1000 manuscripts a year. Our editors are native English-speaking professional science editors, many of whom are also published scientists.

We established the 2-editor approach.

A team of editors edit each manuscript until the manuscript is polished, clear, and concise.

We are committed to your success.

We work closely with each author throughout the editing process and are always available to our clients. Questions are always welcome. Our goal is to help our clients successfully publish their manuscripts and to clearly communicate their science.

Our services are 100% guaranteed.

We will work with you until you are 100% satisfied.

At SciTechEdit, your manuscript is edited and reviewed by native English-speaking professional science editors.  Many of our editors have published in peer-reviewed journals and have served as reviewers for a variety of scientific and technical journals, and grant review committees. Our editors have experience in a wide variety of scientific, medical, and technical fields, with expertise in helping you to convey your original meaning.  Your manuscript and all information it contains are kept in complete confidentiality.  We will provide a non-disclosure agreement upon request.

We highly recommend that all sections be edited.  Sometimes a reviewer will key on a single poorly written sentence and reject the manuscript.  For example, results are sometimes presented for experiments not described in the Methods section.  As more journals rely on electronic manuscript submission, the accuracy of the references is completely the responsibility of the author. Even when references are formatted using software (e.g., EndNote) we frequently find formatting, spelling, and factual errors in the references.  Such errors can lead to a manuscript being rejected by the journal.

Nevertheless, for some manuscripts, you may not wish to have portions (e.g., Methods or References) edited.  Having these sections included in the manuscripts helps our editors to provide the very highest quality of editing.  If the editors have questions, they often use the Methods, Results, References, Tables, and Figures as resources to ensure consistency and accuracy throughout the manuscript.  For example, the description in the text may not agree with the data in a figure.  Because our editors are also scientists, they can identify this discrepancy and notify the author.

If you wish to exclude some sections of your manuscript from editing, please let us know and they will not be included in the word count.

The first highly qualified professional editor performs the initial editing and a second equally qualified editor will compare the edited version to the original for accuracy, completeness, misinterpretations, style, etc., to ensure the highest quality product. The 2 editors work together to provide you the best possible service.

Each manuscript is first reviewed by a senior managing editor to determine which team of science editors is best suited to edit the manuscript. The manuscript is then repeatedly edited by the team of science editors until the manuscript is polished, clear, and concise. The manuscript is returned to the managing editor and then returned to the client. Editors communicate with you as necessary throughout the editing process.
