Our Editing Process

1. SUBMIT YOUR DOCUMENT FOR EDITING

Your document and supporting files may be uploaded through our manuscript submission form or emailed to us.
We edit all types of documents, including:

•    Manuscripts
•    Reviewer responses
•    Posters
•    Presentations (oral and written)
•    Letters between colleagues
•    Letters of collaboration
•    Letters of recommendation
•    Grant proposals and grant progress reports
•    Manuscript reviews for journal editors
•    Websites
•    Book chapters

2. RECEIVE CONFIRMATION BY EMAIL

Receipt of all documents is confirmed by email within 24 hours. If you do not receive a personal email response with 24 hours, we did not receive your document. Please check your spam or junk email folder for the confirmation email.

3. YOUR DOCUMENT IS EDITED

The document is first passed to an editor on our team that has the qualifications matching your request. This editor edits the document completely as many times as necessary, highlighting areas that require clarification or confirmation.

The first editor then presents what they feel is a final copy to the second editor.

The second editor edits the original document with all of the editorial changes visible, ensuring that the authors’ intent was maintained and no errors were introduced into the document. The second editor also addresses any areas highlighted by the first editor.

The document is then formatted for the journal specified, ensuring that word limits are adhered to, references are formatted correctly, etc.

Both editors review the final version and the manuscript is then returned to the client via email.

Our editors refer to the figures, tables, and bibliography to ensure that the edited documents accurately reflect the intended meaning of the author. Please take advantage of this strength of our editors by including the figures, tables, and bibliography with the text of the manuscript to be edited.

4. THE EDITED DOCUMENT IS RETURNED FOR YOUR REVIEW

A clear dialogue between SciTechEdit and our clients is a critical component to producing the highest quality edited materials. Once the edited manuscript is returned, the author should carefully read the manuscript to ensure that their ideas are presented correctly and that the intended meaning has not been altered.

5. YOU MAY REVISE THE EDITED MANUSCRIPT AND RETURN IT TO SCITECHEDIT FOR A PRESUBMISSION REVIEW

SciTechEdit will continue to work with the author to polish the edited material after the author has reviewed it. Questions regarding the editorial changes are expected and welcome. Please submit questions to SciTechEdit by email. Further, if the author would like to make any minor changes, we are happy to review these changes prior to submission of the copy-edited manuscript for publication at no additional cost.  Please note that all changes must be highlighted.

6. EDITED MATERIALS ARE RETURNED ON TIME

All material will be returned to the author via email by midnight of the date it is due. Please note that SciTechEdit International is located in Denver, Colorado, and midnight refers to local time in Denver, Colorado (UTC -7h or UTC -6h).

If you do not receive your edited material by this time, please contact SciTechEdit immediately and/or check your junk email folder. The usual sources of delayed receipt are full mailboxes, and problems with email servers either erroneously blocking emails from SciTechEdit or categorizing the email as “junk” or “spam” email.
